Eva Turenchalk has worked as a Land Use Planner in the Santa Barbara area and for clients throughout California for more than twenty years.
Prior to starting her own firm, Ms. Turenchalk worked locally in both the public and private sectors, including working for the County of Santa Barbara Planning Department, working as the Director of Public Policy for a local non-profit, and working as a planner for both a local land use firm and a local law firm. Ms. Turenchalk has experience working in all facets of land use, including due diligence, policy analysis, project design and management, environmental review, entitlements, condition compliance and construction management. Ms. Turenchalk has also served as an expert witness on several land use matters.
Ms. Turenchalk has a clear understanding of land use policies and the complex entitlement process and, since starting Turenchalk Planning Services in 2008, has been using her experience to assist clients with the design, entitlement and implementation of their projects, with an emphasis on sustainable and habitat restoration projects. Ms. Turenchalk also performs due diligence research for clients purchasing property to ensure a full understanding of the policies and constraints affecting a property.
Current and recent clients include agricultural, residential, commercial and habitat restoration projects, due diligence research, construction monitoring, conservation and agricultural easements, consistency with State laws such as the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), California Coastal Act and the Subdivision Map Act, as well as projects requiring review and approval by local, state & federal agencies, including the California Coastal Commission, US Fish and Wildlife, CA Fish and Wildlife, US Army Corps of Engineers, NOAA Fisheries and the California Department of Water Resources.
